Gertrude Jeanette Hodge

On Tuesday, July 30, 2012 Gertrude Jannette Hodge departed this life at the age of 76 in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a former resident of Bogalusa and New Orleans, LA. She was born September 12, 1935 in Bogalusa, LA to the late Ruth Smith Hodge and Clarence J. Hodge, Sr.

Her memories will be cherished by three aunts, Betty Smith of Baton Rouge, LA, Carrie Smith of Scotlandville, LA and Katherine Smith of Bogalusa, LA; a devoted cousin, Joan S. Bridges of Baton Rouge, LA, who cared for her diligently during her illness, a friend, Yvonne C. Alexander of New Orleans, LA, who was like a sister; Goddaughter, Tamika Jones of Queens, N.Y, and her extended family, John W.B. Smith Family of Bogalusa and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth Smith Hodge and Clarence J. Hodge, Sr.; one brother, Clarence Hodge, Jr.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Payne Memorial A.M.E. Church 3306 South Liberty N.O., LA 70115 with Rev. Lester Shaw. Crain & Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa is in charge of arrangements.
