Leamalie Holmes, Jr. “Ted Jr.” was the first born child to Leamalie “Ted” Holmes and Johnnie Mae Jones Holmes on November 7, 1946. Ted Jr was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and accepted Christ at an early age.
Ted Jr. was a Central Memorial High School “The Mighty Mighty Spartans” graduate of 1966. Upon graduation he moved to Pontiac Michigan and began working at General Motors Corporation where he worked for several years and took flying lessons, where he was twenty hours short of becoming a commercial airline pilot. He met and married “Cookie” Fernanda Turnbow of Detroit, MI. To this union two sons Nathaniel Holmes and Ronnie Roberson and one daughter Regina Roberson was born. After his wife’s death he and Nathaniel moved to Columbia, South Carolina.
During his time in Columbia, SC, he work for Allied Moving Company and worked as a private contractor roofer at Fort Jackson South Carolina and married Mary Ann Jenkins.
After several years he moved back to Bogalusa, LA to retire for health related conditions. While back at home he married Ethel Mae White of Covington, LA.
Survivors include his father Leamalie “Ted” Holmes, Sr. of Bogalusa, LA; one aunt, Irmadine Boulder of Chicago, IL; two sons, Nathaniel Holmes and Ronnie Roberson both of Detroit, MI; one daughter, Regina Roberson of Detroit, MI; two ex-wives, Ethel Mae White of Covington, LA and Mary Ann Holmes of Columbia, SC; three sisters, Amy Louise Judkins of Louisville, KY, Ethel(Jerome) LaBostrie of Cedar Hill, TX and Sylvia Holmes-(Rev. Ronald V.,Sr., M.D. )Myers of Belzoni, MS; two brothers, Latimore (Patricia) Holmes of Bogalusa, LA and Charlie O’Neal (TyWander) Holmes of Uneedus, LA; one adopted Brother Eric Gerrard Holmes of Baton Rouge, LA; one ex sister-in-law, Shirley Underwood Holmes of Detroit, MI; one ex brother-in-law, Lorenzo Judkins, Sr. of Louisville, KY; five grandchildren, Nathaniel Terrell Holmes, II of Detroit, MI; Nathaniel Kerail Holmes III; Eathaniel Dewayne Holmes, and Jarail Leamalie Holmes all of Cincinnati, OH and Tameria Holmes of Detroit, MI; one childhood friend who is like a sister, Loretta "Tabitha" Ratcliff Sinclair of Newark, CA; and a close friend who was like a brother Michael McClure of Detroit, MI, Step- Brothers, Step -Sisters ,nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death was his wife “Cookie” Fernanda Turnbow; mother, Johnnie Mae Holmes and step mother, Nercille Morris-Holmes; two brothers, Elton Jean Holmes and Hollis Lee Holmes.
Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2012 from 2:00 - 7:00 PM at Crain & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Bogalusa.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Crain & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Raymond Mims ~ Officiating. Internment: Bogalusa Cemetery.
