James Thomas

James Thomas “Tick” passed away at the age of 70 on January 7, 2011 at Lakeview Medical Center in Covington, LA.

He attended Wesley Ray High School and later moved to New Orleans, LA, where he met and married Elaine Bryant Peters. To that union two sons, were born, Alvin and Earic Peters. Tick late moved to California to work and remained there until 1979 and continued to work in the wood industry until his retirement.

He joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Tebo Wilson until he moved to New Orleans, LA.

He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted friend, Deloris Sandifer of Angie, LA; two sons, Alvin (Monica) Peters of West Covina, California an Earic (Alisha) Peters of Los Angeles, California; three daughters, who cherished him, Yolanda “Kay” (Anthony) Robinson of Bogalusa, LA, Shawntay Sandifer of Jackson, MS and Altovise Sandifer of Mandeville, LA; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two sisters, Daisy Burns (J. C.) Ratliff and Earnestine Peters, both of Angie, LA; one brother, Leonard Charles “Bubba” (Gloria) Peters of Bogalusa, LA; three aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He also leaves a devoted friend that he considered his brother, Oscar “Brother Boy” Peters of Angie, LA.

He was preceded in death by his late parent, Thomas and Wilmuth Peters, a brother, James Edward “Dy Ricky” Peters; a sister, Christine “Chrissy” Bickham; two brother-in-laws, Sidney “Sid” Burns and Leslie Peters.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 14, 2011 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home Chapel at 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM and followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Willie Edgar Peters ~ Officiating. Interment will be held at Dillon Cemetery.
